Chicken pastel also known as Pastel de Pollo is a Filipino dish of Spanish origin. This dish is also known as Chicken Pot Pie. It usually consists of chicken, potatoes, , carrots, green peas with either evaporated milk or cream. There are several variations of this dish. Some add cheese, mushroom, butter, flour and a whole lot more. My version of chicken pastel is simple and easy to make.
INGREDIENTS
I TBSP. COOKING OIL
1 TBSP ONION, CHOPPED
I TBSP GARLIC,CHOPPED
2 PCS. CHICKEN BREAST, DICED
1 PC CARROT, DICED
1 PC POTATO,DICED
½ CUP GREEN PEAS
1 TSP. FRESH OREGANO
1 CUP ALL PURPOSE CREAM
1 PACK PUFF PASTRY ,ROLLED INTO ½ THICK SHEET
1 EGG,BEATEN
1 CUP COCONUT CREAM
SALT AND PEPPER TO TASTE
COOKING INSTRUCTIONS
SAUTE ONION,GARLIC AND CHICKEN BREAST.
ADD IN POTATOES AND CARROTS ,WAIT FOR A FEW MINUTES UNTIL POTATOES ARE COOKED
THEN ADD IN COCONUT CREAM,SALT AND PEPPER. OREGANO.
ADD GREEN PEAS.
ADD ALL PURPOSE CREAM.
TRANSFER IT IN A BAKING DISH.
TOP WITH PUFF PASTRY SHEET SEALED THE SIDES USING FORK.
BRUSH WITH EGG WAS MIXTURE,BEFORE BAKING
BAKED IT IN OVEN UNTIL THE CRUST TURNS INTO GOLDEN BROWN
AND YOUR CHICKEN PASTEL IS DONE, SERVE TO THE WHOLE FAMILY ENJOY.
