Ginisang kalabasa at sitaw

Filipino Style Recipe, ginisang kalabasa at sitaw or sauteed sting beans and squash is a simple yet nutritious vegetable dish.

INGREDIENTS

1 cup green beans (sitaw), sliced into 1 1/2-inch strips

1 1/2 cups squash (kalabasa), cut into 1 inch cubes

2 tablespoons canola oil

1 canned tuna

1 tablespoon white onion, chopped

1 tablespoon garlic, chopped

1/4 cup water

1/2 teaspoon fish sauce (patis)

pepper, to taste

leeks, for garnish

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS

1.Heat oil over medium heat on a wok and  onions, and garlic,tuna.

2.Add the kalabasa and sauté for 1 minute. Add water and cover and allow to simmer until kalabasa is cooked, about 5 minutes, more water may be added if necessary.

3.Once the kalabasa is almost cooked, add the sitaw and season with patis and pepper, cover. Allow to steam for 1-2 minutes, then turn off heat and leave the cover on for another minute to allow the sitaw to cook more.
